International Climate Art Project
Blue17Circles
17 global cities from 17 countries unite to create a
global interactive masterpiece of climate art.

On EARTH DAY, 22 April 2027, we want to send a strong, unifying message to the world about environmental and climate protection. Our goal is to overcome national borders and language barriers and use the universal language of art to raise awareness of environmental and climate issues among people around the world.
The circle of blue shoes is intended to become a global symbol for a climate-friendly human carbon footprint. We want to realise this vision with the international climate art project ‘Blue17Circles’.
In collaboration with media artist Nicola Pragera and schools and universities from seventeen countries, circular art installations made of blue shoes are being created simultaneously in the centres of seventeen global cities, which together form an interactive, globally networked work of art.
Anyone who wants to understand the communication of the 17 circles and their interactive elements must rethink the way they read a web address. Learning to rethink is also necessary for successful environmental and climate protection. Only when the last circles of the artwork are completed at the end of Earth Day in New York and Toronto will the web address become legible, stretching across the entire globe and representing a symbol of global cooperation and a new way of thinking about protecting our planet.
